Hands On: Inspecting the Hive

At Walt’s Apiary

On June 11, 2022, we had a field trip out to long standing beekeeper, Walt’s apiary where we had hands-on guidance in opening, inspecting, and understanding what you see in a hive. We ended with a demonstration of the sugar roll, and we discussed the critical role of detailed record-keeping that can come in handy years later.

Thank you for hosting us, Walt!

Got this hive open.
Inspecting a brood frame.
Working side by side.
Time for sugar roll…
No mites found today!

Join us next time!

Meetings are at the Farmer’s Museum on the fourth Thursday each month from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
