The sun is shining, the brave little gardens are growing, and the bees are buzzing.
Spring is here and has just about turned the tide away from winter, however these cold nights may linger.
With the growing season arriving in full swing the bees are ramping up and that means us beekeepers need to as well. During this season with the entire season ahead, it’s time to start looking out for swarming. In our own hives and also in the wild. As the saying goes, ‘A Swarm in June is worth a Silver Spoon.’
The next meeting of the Leatherstocking Beekeepers’ Association will focus on Swarm traps and capture, so our members can know what they need to attract the swarm and how to actually be ready to bring that swarm home to the Apiary.
The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with snacks and the meeting will be called to order at 7 p.m. in the Louis C. Jones Center at the Fenimore Farm and Country Village (formerly The Farmers’ Museum), 5775 State Highway 80, Cooperstown.
The presentation will be followed by Q&A, a discussion of monthly activities, and the business meeting where we will be passing out sign up sheets for everything from tabling to equipment purchasing.
We’ll Bee seeing you there.
